He enlisted on April 20, 1861 and was mustered in to the Second Regiment Infantry, Company A as a Sergeant on May 7, 1861. He was mustered out on August 7, 1861. By August 1862 he was living in New London. He re-enlisted on August 4, 1862 and was mustered in to the Eighteenth Regiment Connecticut Volunteer as an Adjutant on August 22, 1862. He was promoted to Captain of Company F on May 20, 1863. He was killed on June 15, 1863 in Winchester, Virginia. (Ruocco, 04/24/12)
