Peck served with Connecticut regiments during the Civil War. Both held the rank of sergeant at some point in their military careers. George C. Peck of Woodbridge mustered in as a corporal in the Tenth Connecticut Volunteer Infantry on October 14 1861. He was promoted to sergeant on August 13 1862. He was discharged on October 7 1864 when his time expired.
George C. Peck of Greenwich mustered in as a 1st sergeant on August 28 1862. He was appointed sergeant major on November 1862. He was promoted from sergeant major to 2nd lieutenant on April 18 1863. He was captured at the battle of Chancellorsville on May 2 1863 and paroled on May 23 1863. He was promoted to 1st lieutenant on March 5 1864 and appointed adjutant on March 20 1865. He mustered out July 19 1865. (Finlay 4/17/2012)
Date Note: Although George C. Peck of Greenwich only served as a sergeant during 1862 and 1863, George C. Peck of Woodbridge continued in that rank until he mustered out in July 1864. (Finlay 4/17/2012)
