DescriptionSilk brocade shoe with an up-turned oval toe, continuous leather sole and Louis heel covered with the silk brocade. The brocade was once perhaps a salmon color, but is now much faded. The two latchets would have buckled over the wide square tongue. The silk is lined with plain-woven linen; it is bound with plain-woven silk tape. The dog leg seams on the sides and the back seam are also covered with this tape. The leather sole is stitched with very heavy white linen thread.
