He was an alumnus of Trinity College and Harvard Law school. He was married to Emily Brace Collins for two years before he died and the couple had one child, Jane Hamersley Wright. (Ruocco, 03/24/12)

Another photograph in the series showing Bill Hamersey and John Rowley flying a kite has an inscription giving the location as "Black Point" which is in East Lyme. (Finlay 3/24/2012)
