DescriptionA crowd of men, women, and boys are outside a building, apparently a barn, with a sign that reads "Free / SADDLE BRONCS". Most wear coats and hats. A rail fence is in the foreground. Flags fly from a building at the left. Automobiles are in a parking lot in the background. Trees and hills are in the distance.

InscribedOn verso, lower right, in pencil, accession numberNotesSubject Note: The Danbury Fair was an annual exhibition held in Danbury between 1821 and 1981. At first a traditional agricultural fair, the event later included large fiberglass sculptures, stock car racing, and amusement park rides. The former fairground is now (2011) the site of the Danbury Fair Mall. (Finlay 3/25/2011)Saddle broncs are a popular feature of Wild West Shows. It's not clear that the barn in the picture would provide adequate space for a performance of this kind. Perhaps the barn simply housed the horses and performance took place elsewhere.
