DescriptionA dilapidated wooden mill building is seen from the back. The building appears to be built into a hillside. Part of the first floor is open, supported on wooden posts, and part of the building has a foundation of large field stones. A brick or stone chimney is at the left and a metal stovepipe is at the right. The building is surrounded by small trees.

InscribedOn recto, lower left, in pencil, "Hinckley's Mill / (near Lebanon, Conn.) / Sept. 4, 1894. H. Yell [or Bell"On verso, lower right, accession numberNotesSubject Note: Connecticut Place Names lists both a Hinckley Brook and a Hinckley Pond in Lebanon. Hinckley Pond is "where H's mill now is....," 1882, Hurd, p. 482. (Finlay 2/5/2011)
Constituent Note: It seems fairly certain that the drawing was made by Huntington Phelps Meech since it is identical in style to the other six drawings, one of which is signed by him. It is not clear who H. Yell is, possibly someone associated with the mill. (Finlay 2/5/2011)
