DescriptionWoman's dress, possibly for evening wear, made of a boldly striped creamy yellow and black silk. It has a low, square neckline and coat sleeves. The bodice closes at center front with six large, shanked mother of pearl buttons, augmented by a brass hook and eye at the waistline. The bodice is fitted with two 6 1/2-inch darts on either side of the bodice opening. The coat sleeves are embellished at the top of the arm with a 4 3/4-inch-wide, pleated puff of self-fabric, edged with two bands of cream-colored, looped braid of silk. The bodice is lined with twill-woven, undyed cotton. The darts and side seams are boned. The major bodice seams are machine-chain-stitched.

The front of the skirt is flat; it is gored on the sides. The skirt is cartridge-pleated along the back. There is an in-seam pocket on the right side. The lining is glazed, cream-colored cotton. The hem is additionally lined with five inches of starched, plain-woven cotton. Cream-colored silk cord finishes the bottom edge of the skirt.
