DescriptionTwo Connecticut State flags almost identical, but due to hand embroidery there are small differences in the color pattern and in the lettering of the two. The description applies to both flags. Both flags are (a). Standard bearer poles are (b-d).
Blue silk flag containing a hand embroidered seal of the State of Connecticut. The seal contains a beige shield containing three embroidered grape vines. The vines are arranged with two being parallel to each other and in the upper portion of the shield, with the third vine centered below the other two. Below the shield, embroidered on a blue banner, is the state motto of "QUI TRANSTULIT SUSTINET." on the front side of the flag. The inscription is therefore reversed on the back side of the flag, because of the hand embroidery. Three sides of the flag contain gold fringe, while the hoist end contains three blue silk ties. The ties are hand-stitched to the flag at the top, middle, and bottom of the hoist end of the flag.
