DescriptionThis blue twill-woven wool/cotton vest is scalloped on the neckline, hem, and armscye edges. These scallops are edged with narrow black and white wool braid. The vest is six inches longer at the back than the front, in order to accomodate a typical 1870s bustle silhouette. The front has two darts, extending eight inches from the scalloped hemline at either side. There are seven button holes on the center front left, although there is only one remaining 5/8-inch metal button, placed one-half inch from the neckline on the right center front. This button has a snowflake design etched into it. The vest is lined in a dull brown, glazed, plain-woven cotton.
