DescriptionWooden finial shaped with a round cap at the top, over an egg-shaped middle with a raised ring around it, over a slender neck with a thick ring around it, over a broad, narrow, circular base. The finial is painted with a black ground. Gold paint is applied at the top of the cap and in a thin stripe on the bottom of the cap; in a ring around the center of the egg shape, and on the ring above the base. A gold floral motif is painted above and below the gold ring on the egg. Circular marks around a pin-sized hole on the unpainted underside reveal where the wood was held in place as it was turned to create the shape of the finial.
