American, 1809 - 1872
Biography: Edmund Burke Kellogg was born in Tolland, CT on May 27, 1809. He trained as a newspaper printer, serving his apprenticeship with Samuel Green in New London. He worked in Boston, Toronto, and New York City before joining his brothers Daniel W. Kellogg and Elijah Chapman Kellogg in Hartford, sometime in the 1830s. When D. W. Kellogg went west about 1836, Edmund and Elijah assumed management of the lithography firm, D. W. Kellogg & Co. In 1840, the firm name became E. B. & E.C. Kellogg. Edmund's involvement with the lithography business continued until 1867, except for a brief period in the early 1850s when he left to work for the Hartford piano forte manufacturer J. H. Most. His son, Charles Edmund Kellogg, was also actively involved with the family firm. Edmund Kellogg died in Hartford on March 26, 1872.
