American, 1787 - 1861
Biography: William Hanford was born 11 November 1787. He was the son of Mehitable Comstock Hanford (1744-1825) and John Hanford; he had eleven siblings. He graduated Yale in 1808. After graduation, William Hanford taught school for two years in Jamaica, New York. He took a theological course in Andover, Massachusetts, and he was ordained as a Presbyterian minister on 13 October 1813. Reverend Hanford went to Canfield, Ohio, to preach on 3 Decemcer 1813. He then went to Hudson, Ohio, in January 1815; he was installed as the Pastor there on 17 August 1815. Reverend Hanford married Amelia Wright (1797-1870) on 30 September 1817; they had no children. Reverend William Hanford died in Tallmadge, Ohio, on 31 May 1861.
