Gallery Copy: Hawthorn House was the private press of Edmund Burke Thompson, located in rural Windham, Connecticut. Thompson was the author of Maps of Connecticut before the year 1800 (1940) and Maps of Connecticut for the years of industrial revolution, 1801-1860 (1942). This tiny map was affixed to the front cover of the second book. Both volumes remain standard references for maps of Connecticut.
Description: Miniature map of Connecticut, divided into counties and towns, and bordered by Massachusetts to the north, Rhode Island to the east, the Long Island Sound to the south, and New York to the west.
Cartographic Note: There is a scale marker but it is too small to read.
Inscription: Recto, lower right, printed in black ink: "CONNECTICUT" There is what looks like a scale below the title, but it is too small to read
