Description: A man, seen in profile, stands in the interior of a room, facing right. He wears a coat and trousers and holds a top hat in his right hand and a cane or walking stick in his left. An armchair is behind him. A patterned carpet is on the floor, and a framed landscape painting of a castle on a hill overlooking a lake is on the wall in the left background. Fringed drapes are pulled back on either side of an open window, through which a Gothic church tower is visible above dense trees. Three small birds fly in the sky nearby.
Inscription: On recto, lithographed facsimile signature beneath image, "Yours truly, T.C. Brownell". Lower left, in pencil, "Drawer 3, #12 A". On verso, upper left, in ink, "Box 33 / #19". Lower right, in pencil: "Dwr 50" and accession number.
