Cream-colored wool blanket, embroidered in brown and light brown wool
Primary Dimensions (height x width): 82 1/2 x 72in. (209.6 x 182.9cm)
Credit Line: Gift of Robert Hazen
Description: This off-white, plain-woven wool blanket has a thin (1/4-inch wide) brown stripe at the top and bottom, running horizontally, woven in. The absence of a center seam implies that the blanket is English. Remnants of wool embroidery thread are shaped in circular designs at each of the four corners, measuring 14 1/4 inch in diameter. It appears as though off-white, pink, and green embroidery threads were used for these "compass rose" designs.
