Gallery Copy: The red lines drawn on this map appear to single out portions of the Park River watershed and may relate to a Park River improvement project of the early 1960s. Flood control continued to be a major concern in this area, which had been impacted by the 1955 flood. Others discussed the possible use of the river corridor for recreation. The fact that the location of the Connecticut Historical Society is indicated within the red lines may suggest that the Connecticut Historical Society was somehow involved in the project. Since the North Branch of the Park River flows directly behind the Connecticut Historical Society's building on Elizabeth Street, Hartford, the Connecticut Historiical Society had good reason to be interested in projects involving the river.
Description: Street map of the city of Hartford, from the town lines of Bloomfield and Windsor to the north, the Connecticut River to the east, the town lines of Newington, Wethersfield and Glastonbury to the south, and the town line of West Hartford to the west.
