Description: Three-quarter-length portrait of a bearded man wearing a coat, vest, shirt, and necktie. His left hand rests on the spine of a book that rests on a table covered with a tablecloth. An upholstered armchair and a fluted column on a high base are at the left. Cord is wrapped around the top of the column, and a tassel hangs at the right. Drapery is in the left background, and a paneled wall is in the right background.
Inscription: On recto, lithographed beneath image, "'The people of these United States are the rightful masters of both Congresses and Courts, not to over-throw / the Constitution, but to over-throw the men who pervert that Constitution.' / [facsimile signature] A.
