Description: Three-quarter-length portrait of a man wearing a coat, vest, pants, shirt, and necktie. He is seated in an armchair with a carved wooden back and holds two sheets of paper, apparently a speech or letter, in his right hand. His body is turned slightly to the left. A column is in the left background. Drapery with two tassels is in the right background.
Inscription: On recto, lithographed title beneath image, "ABRAHAM LINCOLN. / Sixteenth President of the United States." On verso, upper left, in red ink, "870" In pencil: "H 187H SK" "7 #7"; lower right, "Dwr 7" "S. St. J. Morgan" "consv CPC 1987" and accession number.
