Description: A Native American man is seated on a large log. He wears a coat, leather leggings, and moccasins. A musket or rifle rests on the log at his left. To the right stands a Native American woman. She wears what appears to be a short coat over a skirt, leather leggings, and moccasins. She has a baby on her back. A basket lies on the ground nearby. At the far right is a lean-to shelter constructed of boards resting on a bar between two forked trees. Two blankets are on the ground beneath. At the far left, a pot hangs from a tripod over a smoking fire. In the left background, a canoe is at the edge of a large lake. A tree stump is in the right foreground. Dense woods are in the right background.
Inscription: On recto, lithographed title beneath image, "CANADIAN INDIANS. / 372." In pencil, lower right, "Drawer #15", On verso, in black ink, upper left, "65746". In pencil: accession number; upper right, "Box 31 / #3"; lower right, "Dwr 24" and "CPC consv 1987".
