Description: Drawing of the old Trinity College, formerly Washington College, in Hartford. Two men stand in the foreground, both wearing eyeglasses. One of the men is wearing clerical garb, and is holding a book with a cross on the cover. They are looking toward three Greek revival style buildings in the background. Men and women are walking on the street and sidewalk. A horse-drawn carriage is on the left.
Use Note: Original drawing number 18 of a series of 53 done for G. Fox & Co.'s 100th Anniversary. The drawings appeared in The Hartford Courant as full size advertisements on Sundays from December 29, 1946 to December 29, 1947. The drawing was later published in a book: G. Fox & Co. A Century in Connecticut. Hartford, 1948, p.18.
Inscription: Hand-written in ink along bottom the margin, "Trinity College chartered 1823 / (Washington College to 1845) / on site of State Capitol, Hartford". The title is also inscribed in pencil at the top margin.
