Description: Group of photographs show the temporary stores and offices of G. Fox & Co. in Hartford. Signs include: (.180) : "CORSETS / NOTIONS / ART NEEDLE / WORK / ETC. / [G.] FOX & CO.", (.181& .183) "G. FOX & CO. / TEMPORARY / STORES", "G. FOX & CO. / TEMPORARY / STORES/ WOMEN'S / GARMENTS / AND / SHOES" and (.182) "G. FOX / & CO. / MILLINERY" 2007.24.182 shows a window display of women's hats. The door at left reads "29 OFFICE / HARTFORD / BURIAL / CASE CO. / INC."
Subject Note: After the fire in January of 1917 that destroyed the G. Fox & Co. building, temporary stores were opened at various locations throughout Hartford so that business could continue until a new store could be built. The new store was finished in early 1918. (Harbeson 10/17/2007)
