Mirror (.a): 14 karat gold set with blue-green fluorite (fluorspar) stone. Case (.b): Suede leather and brass snap.

Description: Round pocket mirror framed in 14 karat gold set with oval, cabochon cut blue-green fluorspar stone held with two pieces of gold styled in a scroll pattern. Marked "14 K Seaman Schepps" along top edge of mirror. Mirror is stored in a custom-fitted black suede case secured with a brass snap closure. One side of the mirror has a slight magnification.
Medium Note: Fluorite (also called fluorspar) is a mineral composed of calcium fluoride, CaF2. (Blakelock 11/18/2008) Object Note: This piece belongs to a four-piece set of 14 karat gold items that would have been kept in a woman's handbag in the mid-twentieth century and includes a refillable cigarette lighter with lighter manufactured by Zippo, a refillable lipstick case, a refillable perfume bottle and a pocket mirror in case. All four were made by Seaman Schepps of New York and are set with Fluorspar stones. (Blakelock 11/18/2008)
