Karl Gildemeister

Karl Gildemeister was born in Bremen, Germany on 11 October 1820. He arrived in New York City on 15 February 1849. In collaboration with Georg Carstensen he designed the New York Crystal Palace which was part of the Exhibition of the Industry of All Nations of 1853 in New York City. Gildemeister returned to Germany where he died on 8 February 1869.
