Joseph Battell Sr.

Joseph Battell was born in Milford, Connecticut on 21 July 1774, the son of William and Sarah (Buckingham) Battell. At age eighteen he moved to Norfolk, Connecticut where he became a successful merchant. In 1805, he married Sarah Robbins (1779-1855), daughter of the Reverand Ammi Ruhamah Robbins. He died on 30 November 1841.
