Phelps, Ensigns & Thayer

The association between Humphrey Phelps, Edward H. Ensign, Timothy Ensign, and Horace Thayer is apparently undocumented, but their names appear on a lithograph of the Presidents of the United States printed by E.B. & E.C. Kellogg in 1848. All four men were sometimes associated with the Kellogg brothers and evidently knew each other. Their partnership was either extremely short-lived or possibly was an informal arrangement for the publication of this one print.
