George Catlin Woodruff

George C. Woodruff was born on 1 December 1805. He was a lawyer and an enthusiastic antiquarian and historian. In 1845, he published a history of Litchfield, Connecticut and a genealogical register of its inhabitants. He was one of the founders of the Litchfield County Historical and Antiquarian Society, the predecessor of the present-day Litchfield Historical Society. He died on 21 November 1888.
