Theodore Alfred Bingham1858 - 1934

Theodore A. Bingham was born in Andover, Connecticut on 14 May 1858. He attended the United States Military Academy at West Point and subsequently served in the United States Army Corps of Engineers. He retired as a brigadier general in 1904 after losing a leg in an accident. He served briefly as the New York City Police Commissioner and held several engineering positions before being recalled to active duty in 1917. In 1920, he gave a large collection of maps to the Connecticut State Library. He died in 1934, while vacationing in Nova Scotia.
