Alexander Hamilton Emmons

Alexander Hamilton Emmons was born on 12 December 1816 in East Haddam, Connecticut, the son of Noadiah and Elizabeth (Brooks) Emmons. He married Mary A. Wilson of Norwich, Connecticut on 18 October 1835. He left his Norwich studio in 1843, moving to Hartford, Connecticut, where he painted both landscapes and portraits, along with giving lessons. In 1848 he returned to Norwich. He married second, Elizabeth English of Norwich on 2 January 1853. He died on 28 October 1884 at the age of 68.
