Kerr Eby was born in Tokyo, Japan, where his father was a Canadian missionary. His childhood was spent in Canada, but in 1907, at the age of eighteen, Eby moved to New York City to study art at the Pratt Art Institute. He spent summers from 1913 to 1917 at the Cos Cob artist's colony. He is probably best known for his etchings of World War I and World War II.
