Pygan AdamsAmerican, 1712 - 1776

Silversmith Pygan Adams was born 27 March 1712 in New London to Rev. Eliphalet Adams and Lydia Pygan. He was working in New London prior to 1735. In 1744 he married Ann Richards. He was active in the local militia, served in the General Assembly from 1753 to 1765, and was a deacon in the First Church of New London in 1758. At times he is referred to as a merchant and a goldsmith. He trained several silversmiths in the New London area, including his nephew, John Gardiner.
