Sophia Ellsworth (b. 1794) was the daughter of Daniel Ellsworth (1757-1798) and Mary Abbott Ellsworth (1758-1835) of Ellington, Connecticut. She had five siblings: Mary; Betsey (1785-1797); Nancy; John; and Cloe (1796-1797). Her widowed mother married Ebenezer Scarboro and moved to Brooklyn, Connecticut, in February 1809.
