Jane ArdenAmerican, 1743 - 1828

Jane Arden was born 2 March 1743. She was the daughter of Francis Arden, whose family came from England. Her mother's family was of French, but they left France to avoid persecution after the revocation of the Edict of Nantes. Jane Arden married Alexander Hosack (1736-1796) in New York City, New York, on either 1 or 28 April 1768. Her husband was a native of Elgin, Murrayshire, Scotland. The Hosacks had seven children. Jane Arden Hosack died in Morristown, New Jersey, on 30 September 1828. Her funeral was held at the residence of her oldest son, Dr. David Hosack (1769-1835), at 97 Chambers Street, New York City, New York.
