M. C. Webster & SonAmerican, 1839 - 1857

After 1830, Horace Goodwin and Mack C. Webster both ran a Front Street pottery in Hartford, Connecticut. According to Lura Woodside Watkins, in, "Early New England Potters and Their Wares", Goodwin was no longer in the firm after 1840, and M. C. Webster & Son was formed. "M. C. Webster & Son" appears in the Hartford City Directory of 1840, with an address of 27 Front Street. The son, Charles T. Webster, after his father's death in 1857, ran the works in partnership with Orson Hart Seymour as Webster & Seymour.

An M. C. Webster & Son receipt in the Connecticut Historical Broadside collection is dated 1839, suggesting that M. C. Webster & Son could have been operating as early as the late 1830s.
