Anne Beach1729 - 1796

Anne Beach was born on 25 April 1729 the daughter of Sarah (died 1763) and William Beach. She married William Samuel Johnson (7 October 1727-14 November 1819) on 5 November 1749. He was the son of Reverend Dr. Samuel Johnson (1696-1772), the Anglican minister in Stratford, Connecticut and Charity Floyd Nicoll (died 1758). William earned a B.A. from Yale in 1744 and numerous other degrees. They lived in Stratford, Connecticut, and William was a member of the Connecticut assembly and Governor's Council, judge of Connecticut Superior Court, and a delegate to the Stamp Act Congress, the Continental Congress, and the Constitutional Convention. He served as President of Columbia College from 1787-1800 and U.S. Senator from Connecticut until 1790. Ann and William had seven children: Charity (1750-1777) m. Rev. Ebenezer Kneeland; Sarah (1754-1762); Gloriana Ann (1757-1785) married Roger Alden; Mary (1759-1583), unmarried; Samuel William (1761-1789) married Daniel C. Verplanck; and Robert Charles (1755-1806) who married Catherine?. Ann Beach died in New York on 26 April 1796 and was interred in the Johnson family vault in Stratford, "being the first person therein Interred."
