S. L. Pewtress & Co.

S. L. Pewtress formed S. L. Pewtress & Co. in Fair Haven, Connecticut, in 1868 for the manufacture of stoneware, redware, earthenware, Rockingham ware, and yellow ware.

Two pieces of stoneware owned by the Connecticut Historical Society are marked "S.L. Pewtress" and not "S.L.Pewtress & Co." More research may need to be done to determine if the difference in marks represents a different company. (Hunt 2/25/2005)
