Sarah Whitman married Thomas Hart Hooker (1745-1775) in 1769. They had a daughter, Abigail Pantry Hooker (1770-1854), who married a Talcott. Thomas Hart Hooker was killed at the Seige of Boston in 1775; in recognition of this the chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution in West Hartford, Connecticut is named for Sarah Whitman Hooker.
