Amos Denison AllenAmerican, 1774 - 1855

Amos Denison Allen was a chairmaker who apprenticed with Ebenezer Tracy of Windsor, Connecticut for at least five years. His apprenticeship expired on his twenty-first birthday, on 13 March 1795. Shortly after, in 1796, he married Ebenezer Tracy's daughter, Lydia; they had at least two children, Frederick Allen and Lydia Allen, Jr. Amos Denison Allen's brother in law, Frederick Tracy, was his apprentice in South Windham, Connecticut and, later, his partner in the firm Allen & Tracy. Some of Amos Denison Allen's account books survive, covering the years from September 1796 to January 1803.
