Abel ParmeleAmerican, born 1703

Abel Parmele was the son of Betty Edwards Parmele and Job Parmele. He was born 20 May 1703 in Guilford, Connecticut. He married Sarah Doolittle of New Haven in 1729 and settled in New Haven. He married his second wife, Mary Beecher (d. 1766), in 1731, and within a few years of that, he relocated to Branford. Abel Parmele was a cousin of Ebenezer Parmele, a noted Guilford Clockmaker. Abel Parmele was a clockmaker like as cousin, but his master is unknown. His elaborate engraved faces with cast ornaments survive in two examples. Abel Parmele was still alive in 1766 at the time of his second wife's death, but his exact death date is unknown.
