Harvey Goodwin

Harvey Goodwin was born in 1802. He trained as a potter under his uncle, Seth Goodwin, and Hervey Brooks in Goshen, Connecticut. He went to West Hartford, Connecticut, in 1832 to work for his uncle, then started a business of his own. The pottery ran under his management until 1870, the year of his death. The family business was carried on after that by Harvey Goodwin's sons, Harvey Burdett Goodwin and Wilbur Elmore Goodwin, as Goodwin Brothers. The shop was located on the south side of New Britain Avenue just east of the railroad tracks.
