Lydia AshleyAmerican, 1788 - 1853

Lydia Ashley was born on 19 November 1788. She was the daughter of General John and his second wife, Mary Ballantine Ashley, of Sheffield, Massachusetts. She married Royal Ralph Hinman of Connecticut on 14 September 1814; they had five children. Her husband, a lawyer, held numerous elected and appointed offices, including representative in the General Assembly, judge, and Secretary of the State, which resulted in his removal to Hartford, Connecticut, in 1835. Lydia Ashley Hinman died in New York City, New York, on 27 August 1853.
