Leverett Belknap was a member of Company A (also known as the Anderson Guard and the Boys Company) of Hartford during the Civil War. The Boys Company was one of the nine companies of boys in Hartford in 1861, under Colonel Stetson. They were part of the escort to the Fifth Regiment of Connecticut (the second three-year regiment to go out) when it marched away from Hartford on 29 July 1861. In 1932, Leverett Belknap was said to be the last member of the company left living in Hartford.
