Rosa Frances PeckhamAmerican, born 1842

Rosa Frances Peckham was born 28 October 1842, the daughter of Catherine Davis Peckham and Dr. Fenner Harris Peckham. Her father was a noted physician, and he was a member of the state medical boards of both Connecticut and Rhode Island. Rosa had five siblings: Katherine Fenner (d. 1841, and became a doctor); Fenner H. (b. 1844); Ella Lois Torrey (b. 1846); Grace (b. 1848); and Mary Davis (1853-1895.)

Rosa Frances Peckham was educated in Providence, and she graduated from high school in 1862. She studied art and painting in Paris, France for ten years, and her paintings were exhibited in the Paris Salon. Rosa Peckham married George Whitman Danielson (1829-1884) of Providence, Rhode Island. The wedding took place in Providence on 25 January 1881. They had two children: Whitman (b. 17 December 1881) and Rosamond (b. 6 November 1884.) Rosa Peckham Danielson was one of the founders of the Providence Art Club, and she was also a member of the Colonel Timothy Bigelow Chapter, D. A. R., of Worchester, Massachusetts.
