Morgan Gardner BulkeleyAmerican, 1837 - 1922

Morgan Gardner Bulkeley was born on 26 December 1837, the son of Eliphalet Adams Bulkeley and Lydia Smith Morgan Bulkeley. Morgan G. Bulkeley helped to found the United States Bank, and in 1879 be became the third president of the Aetna Life Insurance Company. He served in this capacity for 43 years. Bulkeley was the mayor of Hartford from 1879 to 1887, Republican Governor of Connecticut from 1889 to 1893, and United States Senator from 1905-1911. He and his wife had a daughter, Elinor Bulkeley (1893-1964), who married John Avery Ingersoll.
