Joseph AbelAmerican, active 1893 - 1895

"Professor" Joseph Abel appears to have been active as a photographer and broadswordsman in the Hartford, Connecticut area between about 1893 and 1895. He gave demonstrations of swordsmanship at Germania Hall and Allyn Hall. According to an article in the Hartford Courant in 1895, he left for Pennsylvania in that year because he "could not stand everything." His imprint appears as "Addison, Connecticut" on a photograph from the Clifford Alderman Collection.
