Holbrook Apparatus Mfg. Co.American

The Holbrook Apparatus Manufacturing Company was founded in Hartford, Connecticut in 1855 by Alfred and Dwight Holbrook. The business was a continuation of the work their father Josiah Holbrook (1788-1854) began in the 1830's making orreries (mechanical models of the solar system showing orbits of the planets at correct relative velocities) and globes. The company specialized in manufacturing classroom demonstration apparatus and other scientific equipment.
