Elnathan Whitman

Elnathan Whitman was born on 12 January 1708 in Farmington, Connecticut, son of Reverend Samuel and Sarah (Stoddard) Whitman (1680-1758). He graduated from Yale In 1726. He was Tutor (1728-1732) and later Fellow (1748-1774) of Yale. He was ordained Pastor of the Second Church of Hartford in 1732 where he remained for 45 years until his death on 4 March 1777. He was married to Abigail Stanley (1719-1795) with whom he had 4 children, Abigail (1746-1820), William (1760-1848), Mary (dates unknown) and Elizabeth (1751/2-1788).
