BiographyJohn H. Bufford was an important early Boston lithographer. He served his apprenticeship with Pendleton's beginning in 1829 and worked for that firm until 1834. and went on to operate one of Boston's most successful lithography businesses. J. H. Bufford died in 1870. His son John Henry, Jr. ran the business until 1873, when he was joined by his brother Frank. The brothers continued in business under various names until 1910; the firm was known as J. H. Bufford's Sons until 1880.
