George S. BlakeAmerican, 1802 - 1871

George Smith Blake was born in Worcester, Massachusetts in 1802. He had a distinguished career as a naval officer, achieving the rank of rear admiral. During the 1830s and 1840s, he worked for the United States Coast Survey. He later served as the superintendant of the Naval Academy at Annapolis. He died in 1871.
