BiographyLouis Prang was born in Breslau, Germany in 1824. He emigrated following the Revolution of 1848 and eventually wound up in the United States in 1850. He settled in Boston, where he became a wood engraver. In 1856, he entered the lithography business with Julius Mayer. After this partnership ended, he founded his own company, L. Prang & Co. and continued printing lithographs until his retirement in 1899.
