Mathias Spiess

Mathias Spiess was born in Brooklyn, New York in 1873. He moved to Manchester, Connecticut where he worked as a tobacco farmer. He was also the town historian, with extensive knowledge of local history and a special interest in the Indians of Connecticut.. He was the author of several books, including The History of Manchester. He died in Manchester in 1959.
